Toy Photography

Toy photography is a fun modern art style consisting of modeling toys in unique positions that perhaps human models couldn’t or would feel uncomfortable doing. Because of the size of toys, the photographer has an opportunity to play with perspective, unique modeling, and use lots of creativity. I took this approach when it came to my vision of toy photography. My models were classic Stormtrooper action figures and Lego minifigures which I placed on a variety of different locations and positions. As the viewer will see I played with the toy’s size in order to contrast the scenery surrounding them.

Storm Troopers

During my Photography class at West Coast Baptist College, I was presented with a final project consisting of a photoshoot. Most photographers when presented with a photoshoot opportunity think of modeling, scenery, animal photography, or other more common methods, but I had something more unique in mind. I decided I wanted to do something out of the ordinary for my final photography project… toy photography. I played with scope and perspective based on the size of the action figures relative to the environment around them. Modeling the action figures around everyday objects scenery was lots of fun. The time spent on planning, toy modeling, camera angling, and photo editing was worth the final product. I hope you enjoy!

Lego Photogrpahy

I love Lego. After seeing how exciting it was to do toy photography and how content I was with the final product, I wanted to do the same for my Lego. I therefore modeled my Minifigures into unique positions on my Lego sets in order to photograph unique scenarios. Below are some of my favorites. Hope you enjoy!
